Awareness Insights
U-Experience is a personal data collection system that enables you to research yourself, increase awareness and identify own patterns of behavior.
We enable researchers to easily create and deploy customised experience sampling research protocols. Our goal is to optimise researchers’ time and allow an in-depth understanding of phenomenological processes while providing research participants with insights into their experiental landscape.
U-Experience has been developed as a tool to bring us closer to understanding human experience, closer to understanding ourselves.
“Watch your thoughts, they become words;
watch your words, they become actions;
watch your actions, they become habits;
watch your habits, they become character;
watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”
Lao Tse
Since the dawn of our consciousness, we are driven by the need to know, by the who and why of our consciousness, our being, our existence.
In examining experience, the role of the one whose experience is being examined becomes active. You are not just a reporter or an information source but must become an active collaborator in the study. You are the researcher.
Privacy: Only You have complete control of your data.
You can opt-in to take part in organized research and become a co-researcher of a specific consciousness phenomena while contributing to collective body of knowledge.
Experience sampling enables us also to identify patterns of behaviour within the person across a population of sample experiences and to gain deeper understanding of who we are and how we connect to others and the world.
On random occasions during the day you will receive a notification. Think and feel the moment right before the notification. No matter what feelings emerge just observe and take a note. After 4 – 7 days you should have enough experience samples from which patterns or even a bigger picture can emerge.
Through this process you can expand your existential understanding of your own experiential landscape. This technique can therefore be viewed as a kind of self-research process, thus approaching mindfulness and some forms of psychotherapies.
Grow through awareness insights.
Currently, the application’s used and copied method is DES (Descriptive Experience Sampling) together with the beneficial aspects of yes/no questions method. DES is a method, first developed by a R. T. Hurlburt, where research subject is “beeped” on random occasions throughout the day, while the subject's task is to write down her ongoing experience from the moment right before the beep.
As the application allows participants to describe their experiences in various ways – by taking a photo (or selfie), by open text and/or by creating new key words – the user doesn’t need to give a phenomenological insight and there is no need for a time-consuming interviewer’s guidance in a dialogue, for this task is done by the app itself.
Furthermore, one of the strengths of ESM is that there is no data disturbance by memory effects.
Currently we are in the closed beta stage working with selected partners and improving the platform for general use. In case, you need this tool today or have an interesting research proposal, please contact us.
Researchers can easily create and deploy custom experience sampling protocols.
Pharmaceutical companies can gather more quality data.
The app can assist some forms of psychotherapies and cognitive-behavioral therapies.
Especially suitable for mobile applications and Internet-of-things products and services where context is as much important as the product itself.
The ability to get feedback about products in use in their natural environment makes it possible to better respond to customer behavior and create for them an experience of value.
